SERVICES - Integrated Discrete Multiple Organ Co-Culture Assays (IdMOC Assay)
IVAL holds the exclusive patent to IdMOC (Integrated Discrete Multiple Organ Culture) technology which allows the culturing of cells from multiple organs in the same culture dish.

By using IdMOC technology, cells from multiple organs are physically separated, allowing each to be cultured under a defined optimal condition (Figure 1). The cells from multiple organs can then be connected via an overlying medium, thus resembles a whole organism with multiple organs which are physically separated but are joined by circulating blood.

Figure 1.

IdMOC technology has been successfully used in co-culturing the following cell types and can be applied to both human and animal models.

•     Hepatocytes

•     Kidney proximal tubule epithelial cells

•     Neuronal cells (astrocytes; neurons; microglial cells)

•     Endothelial cells

•     Airway epithelial cells

•     Various tumor cell lines

The IdMOC system has numerous applications in drug discovery and development, such as drug efficacy, metabolism, and toxicity which can be simultaneously studied using this system.  Contact our experts who will work with you to design studies to suit your specific needs.
